A Strong Believer Is Beloved to Allah To The Weak Believer

DAILY POST #117

Imaam Ibn Hajar Al-‘Asqalaani – rahimahullaah – said:

It is reported from Abu Hurairah radiyallaahu anhu- who said – The Messenger of Allah -salallaahu alayhi wasallam said:

“A believer who is strong is better and beloved to Allah than the weak believer, but there is goodness in both of them, then be eager on what will benefits you and seek help from Allah, and do not be weak. If anything happens to you do not say: “If I had done such and such thing, such and such would have happened.” But say, ‘Allah decrees what He wills and He does what He wants; for saying “If I had” provides a way for the deeds of the Shaitaan.”

Transmitted and recorded by Imaam Muslim in his “Sahih”#6435.

COMMENTARY

The hadith shows the importance of the following:

♦ It shows that a believer with strong determination in good deeds is dearer and beloved to Allah Subuhanahu wata’ala compared to the weak believer.

♦ It indicates that there is goodness in both strong and weak believer.

♦ It shows that one should be keen on what will benefit him and he should seek help from Allah and He should not give up.

♦ It shows that if anything happens to one, he should not say: ” if I had done such and such thing, such and such would have happened.

♦ It shows that Allah decrees what He wills and He does what He wants.

♦ It illustrates that by saying “if I had” provides an opening for the deeds of the shaitaan.
