Imaam Ibn Hajar Al-‘Asqalaani – rahimahullaah – said:
It is reported from Abu Addarda radiyallaahu anhu- who said – The Messenger of Allah -salallaahu alayhi wasallam said:
“whosoever protects his brother’s honor in his absence, Allah will protect his face from Hell on the Day of Resurrection.”
Transmitted and recorded by Imaam At-Tirmidhi in his “Sunan”#1931 and He graded it as Hasan. Shaykh Al-Albaani declared it as Sahih in “Ghaayatu Al-Maraam”#431
COMMENTARY
The hadith shows the importance of the following:
♦ It indicates that if a Muslim defends his brother’s honor in his absence, Allah will protect his face from Hell.
♦ It shows the importance of defending the honor of a Muslim in his absence.
♦ It indicates that safeguarding the honor of a Muslim is one of the doors of entering into paradise.
