Imaam Ibn Hajar Al-‘Asqalaani – rahimahullaah – said:
It is reported from Salmaan radiyallaahu anhu- who said – The Messenger of Allah -salallaahu alayhi wasallam said:
“Verily, your Lord Is Modest and Generous; And He feel Shy of His servant when he raises his two hands to Him(I.e in supplication) to return them empty.”
Transmitted and recorded by Imaam Abu Dawud in his “Sunan”#521 and Imaam At-Tirmidhi in his “Sunan”#212. Shaykh Al-Albaani declared it as Hasan in Sahihu Al-Jaami’#2070.
COMMENTARY
The hadith shows the importance of the following:
♦ It shows that Allah Is generous to His servants.
♦ It indicates that Allah never turn the hands of His servant empty when he raises them to Him in supplication.
♦ It illustrates the permissibility of raising hands while supplicating. However, this is not done in every situation.
