Raising The Hands While Supplicating

Imaam Ibn Hajar Al-‘Asqalaani ,rahimahullaah said:

It is reported from Umar radiyallaahu anhu- who said – “When The Messenger of Allah -salallaahu alayhi wasallam Raised His Two Hands in supplication, He did not return them till He wiped His Face with the two hands.’

Transmitted and recorded by Imaam At-Tirmidhi in his “Sunan”#3386. Shaykh Al-Albaani declared it as Dai’f(weak) in “Mishkaatu Al-Masaabih”#2245.

 

COMMENTARY

The hadith shows the importance of the following:

♦ It shows the permissibility of wiping the face with the two hands after supplication. However, this is not done in every place.

♦ It illustrates the permissibility of raising hands while supplicating.

♦ It indicates the importance of Dua’.
