Imaam Ibn Hajar Al-‘Asqalaani – rahimahullaah – said:
It is reported from Abdullahi Ibn Umar radiyallaahuma anhu- who said – The Messenger of Allah -salallaahu alayhi wasallam used to say:
“اللهم، إني أعوذبك من غلبة الدين، وغلبة العدو، وشماتة الأعداء ً
Allaahumma, Inni Au’zubika min galabati Addaini, Wagalabati Al-A’duwwi, Washamaatati Al-A’adaahi.”
Meaning: Oh Allah! I seek refuge in You from the burdens of debts and from being overpowered by enemies and from the gloating of enemies.”
Transmitted and recorded by Imaam An-Nasaa’i in his “Sunan”#5475. Shaykh Al-Albaani declared it as Sahih in “Sahihu Al-Jaami'”#1296.
COMMENTARY
The hadith shows the importance of the following:
♦ It indicates that The Messenger salallaahu alayhi wasallam do seek refuge in Allah-The Almighty from being overpowered by His enemies or from the gloating of enemies.
♦ It encourages one to always seek refuge in Allah from the burdens of debts.
♦ It illustrates the importance of the Dua’.
