Imaam Ibn Hajar Al-‘Asqalaani rahimahullaah – said:
It is reported from Abu Hurairah radiyallaahu anhu- who said – The Messenger of Allah -salallaahu alayhi wasallam used to say in the morning:
” اللهم، بك أصبحنا، وبك أمسينا، وبك نحيا ، وبك نموت، وإليك النشور،، وإذا أمسي قال مثل ذلك، إلا أنه قال:” وإليك المصير ”
Allaahuma, bika Asbahna, wabika Amsaina, wabika nahya, wabika namutu, wailayka Annushuur”wa iza Amsa qaala misla dhaalik, illa Annahu qaala: Wailayka lmaseer”
Meaning: “O Allah! By Your leave we have reached the morning and by your leave we have reached the evening. By Your leave we live and die. Unto You is our Resurrection.” In the evening, he would say the same except the last phrase where He would say:“and to you do we return to.”
Transmitted and recorded by Imaam Abu Dawud in his “Sunan”#5068. Shaykh Al-Albaani declared it as Hasan in Sahihu Al-Jaami’#353.
