Imaam Ibn Hajar Al-‘Asqalaani – rahimahullaah – said:
It is reported from Anas radiyallaahu anhu- who said – The Messenger of Allah -salallaahu a’layhi wasallam used to supplicate frequently by saying:
“ربنا، آتنا في الدنيا حسنة، وفي الآخرة حسنة، وقنا عذاب النار “متفق عليه
Rabbana Atina Fiddunya Hasanatan Wafi Al-Akhirati Hasanatan, Waqina A’zaba Annaar “Mutafaqun A’layhi.
Meaning: Oh Our lord! Give us the goodness of this world and also give us the goodness of the Hereafter and Save us from the punishment of the Hell.”Agreed upon.
Transmitted and recorded by Imaam Bukhaari in his “Sahih”#6389 and Imaam Muslim in his “Sahih”#2689.
COMMENTARY
The hadith shows the importance of the following:
♦ It indicates the importance of the dua’.
♦ It shows that the Messenger salallaahu a’layhi wasallam used to say the dua’ frequently.
♦ It shows that the Messenger salallaahu a’layhi wasallam used to seek for the best in this life and the next life.
