DAILY POST #82
It is reported from Aisha radiyallaahu anha who said:
The Messenger of Allah -salallaahu alayhi wasallam said:
“O Allah, whosoever is in charge over my people on any affairs and he causes distress or discomfort to them, oh Allah also cause distress to him .”
Transmitted and recorded by Imaam Muslim in his “Sahih”#1828.
COMMENTARY
The hadith shows the importance of the following:
♦ It shows that if a leader should cause distress to his followers, Allah will also do the same to him. The messenger of Allah salallaahu alayhi wasallam prayed against him because of the nature of his act. From this, we understand that deed are rewarded in accordance with the type ( I.e either good or bad). If you cause hardship, difficulty or brings evil deeds, then you should expect a similar thing to befall you, for Allah does not oppress anyone and vice versa.
Allah says in Suratul Al-Anaam, Verse 160:
” Whoever brings a good deed (Islamic Monotheism and deeds of obedience to Allah and His Messenger salallaahu alayhi wasallam shall have ten times the like thereof to his credit, and whoever brings an evil deed (such as polytheism disbelief, hypocrisy) and deeds of disobedience to Allah and His Messenger salallaahu alayhi wasallam shall have only the recompense of the like thereof, and they will not be wronged.”
♦ It indicates that whosoever is in charge of any position or any affairs of the Muslim ummah, should fear Allah and be soft, gentle, generous, kind and sympathy to them.
This is because the position given to him by Allah is an Amanah (trust) and Allah will surely ask on the day of qiyamah (judgement day).
♦ It illustrates the heaviness or gravity of causing distress to others. It is abhorrent to harm others even though the person is a kafir (disbeliever) unless what is known in the sharia.
It is even more severe and danger in the case of a Muslim. For this, we need to beware and careful about harming others ranging from children, relatives, neighbors, friends and parent etc.
