DAILY POST #9
On the obligation of having very sound Scholars in every village and town.
Imaam Ibn Hazm Al-Andalusi – rahimahullah – said:
“It is obligatory upon every group of people that reside in a village or a town or a hamlet or a pastoral settlement or a citadel that they make one of them to – on their behalf – learn and master all the Sciences of the Deen, from its begining to its end. He should study all of the Qur’an and copy all of what is authentically sound from the Prophet – salallaahu alayhi wasallaam – of the ahaadeeth of Ahkaam – all of them – and to master them word for word; and to master everything that the entire Muslims are at a consensus on and what they differ on. Such a person will be responsible for teaching them and instructing them on the Qur’an, the Hadith and the Ijmaa… But if they, in their settlements, do not find who can teach them all of what we have mentioned, then it is obligatory upon them to travel away to where they can find Ulamaa who have encompassed the different branches and sciences of Ilm even if their homes are far of, even if they be in China” (Al-Ihkaam Fi Usuli Al-Ahkaam 5/123)
Imaam Abu Haamid Al-Ghazzaali – rahimahullah – said:
“And it is waajib that in every mosque and in every street in every town there should be a faqih teaching people the affairs of their Din. And same should be for every city.”

Brothers and Sisters! Let us ponder over what these two Imaams have said. Jazaakumullaahu khayran!
