Imām Ibn Qudāmah Al-Maqdisi-rahimahullāh-
Said:
Know verily – may the blessings of Allāh be upon you – that, the sweetness and delight of seeing the Allah Ta’āla in the Hereafter is greater than the knowledge of Allāh in this Dunya.
And the sunnah of Allāh is that, as long as the heart is covered with physical impediments and desires, and what overwhelmed the heart of vices, then it can never get closer to Allah. In fact, the love of dunya itself screens the heart as though the screening of the lashes to the eye.
When this screen is unveiled by death, the soul still possessed some impurities from this transitory life. However, after entering Jannah, the soul becomes pure from the impurities.
Thus, whoever doesn’t know Allāh Ta’āla in this Dunya, will not behold Him in the Hereafter. One will not harvest except that which one planted, and one will not pass away except on that which one lives one’s life on. No second chance is given to catch up what in the Hereafter what he lost in the Dunya.
Allāh says:
وإن الدار الآخرة لهي الحيوان
…But verily the Home in the Hereafter, that is life indeed,…
Sūratu Al-‘Ankabūt, Verse 64.
The life in the Hereafter depends on one’s knowledge in the Dunya.
Hence, oh beloved one, hasten to know the truth meaning of love for Allāh, its delight and its being the highest pleasure in the sight of those with deep insight and knowledge.
17th Rabī’ul Awwal, 1441H.
