_Imaam Ibn Qudaamah Al-Maqdisi -rahimahullaah-_
Said:
Know verily that, when the desires in the heart becomes stronger as against the light of Iman, then shaitan whispers to the heart by saying;
Don’t you see so so and so so people, how they are enjoying themselves and doing what their heart likes? Then, the heart drifts a little to the plots of shaitan. Even ulamaa are not left out in the plots of the shaitan.
However, due to the infinite mercy of Allāh, the heart will not be completely carried away by the plots, then it remembers that; indeed those people that were destroyed are the ones that are heedless of their Hereafter, thus, do not be carried away by them, just imagine, if they were to stand inside the sun and you happened to be in a house, are you going to join them in the sun or you will be in the House? Off course you will be in the house because of the sun.
You disagreed with them of not been in the sun with them, then, won’t you be at variance with them on what may lead you to hell? Then the heart is admonished with the words of His lord and it dangles between two different forces which are pulling it to its side until it is overpowered with what suits the heart. Whosoever is created for good, it is made easy for him, and whosoever is created for bad, it is also made easy for him.
In this context, Allāh the Most High, says:
_فَمَن يُرِدِ اللَّهُ أَن يَهْدِيَهُ يَشْرَحْ صَدْرَهُ لِلْإِسْلَامِ وَمَن يُرِدْ أَن يُضِلَّهُ يَجْعَلْ صَدْرَهُ ضَيِّقًا حَرَجًا كَأَنَّمَا يَصَّعَّدُ فِي السَّمَاء_ِ)
_”Therefore, whomsoever Allah intends that He would guide him to the straight path, He expands his breast for Islam, and (for) whomsoever He intends that He should cause him to err, He makes his breast strait and narrow as if he is ascending upwards.._”
Suratu Al-an’ā’m, verse 125.
Lastly, we beseech Allah to guide us to what He loves and that which pleases Him, Amin.
