_Imām Ibn Qudāmah Al-Maqdisi -rahimahullāh-_
Said:
Know verily – may the blessings of Allah be upon you that, there is vast different between knowledge and wealth, for wealth may vanish and terminate, while knowledge doesn’t vanish or seize to exist in the heart of the one who posses it.
Therefore, whosoever ponders about the greatness of Allah, His power and His Mulk, that becomes beloved and preferred to him than any pleasure of this dunya, for he will not be prevented from it nor is there any rival in it, thus, he will have no envy in his heart for anybody; and if other people were to know what he knows, that will not reduce nor affect his pleasure and happiness.
The similitude of this is the sky, one will never find people competing on looking at the beauty of the sky, for it is spacious and wide enough for anybody to take his share during looking.
Thus, it is upon one to hasten and seek for the blessings which has no rival in it, and its pleasure doesn’t fade away with time, and that is knowing of Allah Ta’ala and moving closer to him. And this type of pleasure can never be obtained in the worldly gains.
Moreover, if one’s heart is not fill with strong aspirations of knowing Allāh Taala, that shows that one has not really tasted the sweetness of moving closer to Him. In this case, one’s interest becomes weak.
For one can only have strong aspirations after tasting the pleasure, whosoever has not tasted it doesn’t know it, and whosoever doesn’t know it will not hasten for it, and whosoever his heart is not fill with the interest of it will not seek for it, and whosoever doesn’t seek for it will not attain it, and whosoever doesn’t get to it will definitely remain amongst those who are bereaved of it.
