Imaam Ibn Qudaamah Al-Maqdisi -rahimahullaah-
Said:
When one gets up to pray Tahajjud prayer at night, one is recommended to supplicate by saying;
Allaahumma Rabbana lakal Amdu, Anta qayyimus samaawaat wal ard waman feehinn, wa lakal Amdu Anta nurus samaawaat wal ard waman feehinn, wa lakal Amdu Anta malikus samaawaat wal ard waman feehinn, wa lak Amdu, Antal aqq, wawa’adukal aqq, waliqaahuka aqq, waqawlika aqq, waljannatuka aqq, wannaru aqq, wannabiyyuka aqq, wa Muhammadun aqq, wassaa’tu aqq, Allaahumma laka Aslamtu, wabika àmantu wa a’layka tawakkaltu, wa ilayka Anabtu, wabika Khaasamtu, wa ilayka haakamtu, faghfirli maa qaddamtu, wamaa Akhkhartu, wama asrartu, wamaa A’alantu, Antal Muqaddim wa antal muakhkhir, laa ilaha illaa Anta”
Meaning:
” O Allah, All praises are for You, for You are the Holder of the Heavens and the Earth, and what is in them. All praises are for You, for You are the light of the Heavens and the Earth and what is in them. All praises are for You; You are the Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is therein. All praises are for You, for You are the truth, and Your promise is the truth, and your meeting is the truth, and Your speech is the truth. Paradise is true and Hellfire is true, the Prophets are true, and Muhammad is true. And the Hour(Day of Resurrection) is true. O Allah! I surrender to you and I have faith in You. I rely upon You and I repent to You, and it is for You that i have opposed my enemies and it is to You whom I refer for judgment. So forgive my past and future sins, those which I did in secret or in public. You are the Muqqadim and Muakhkhar. There is none to be worshipped but You”.
