_Imām Ibn Qudāmah -rahimahullāh-_
Said:
Know verily that, if Allāh Ta’āla were to make the existence of man on earth that which has no end, oppression, transgression and arrogance would have been his goal on earth.
Rather, Allāh Ta’āla in His infinite Mercy Has not make the existence of man that of everlasting, and He Has created him as a weak person who is surrounded with shortcomings, sickness and some vices.
Therefore, whenever man got to a certain level be it in position, status or power, such level doesn’t last before it deteriorates. Man due to his weakness, can never control any harm or benefit for himself. His affairs are all controlled by Allāh Ta’āla.
He may be delighted with a thing, but later see it as something old, he may seek for a thing but he would not get it, which shows his lack of perfection. And he cannot even guarantee security for his life.
As for the end of man, it is death which turned him into non living being the way he was before, he shall be placed into the earth. Then he will turn into decayed dead flesh, and the bones rotten, and he will be eaten by worms.
Thus, he shall turn into clay which may be used for molding an object. After long degradation, his parts are gathered together and he will now be resurrected to account for his deeds.
However, he will notice that the earth has changed into a different earth, the mountains are made to pass away as the passing away of the cloud, the heavens burst asunder, the stars darken, the sun is covered completely, the hell is kindled up, the books are spread and the whole place turn to dark, and it will be said to him:
_اقْرَأْ كِتَابَكَ كَفَىٰ بِنَفْسِكَ الْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكَ حَسِيبًا_
_Read your book; your own self is sufficient this day as a reckoner against you._
