Imām Ibn Qudāmah -rahimahullāh-
Said:
Fear of Angels( ‘Alayhimmussalām).
Allāh Ta’āla says in this regard:
يَخَافُونَ رَبَّهُم مِّن فَوْقِهِمْ وَيَفْعَلُونَ مَا يُؤْمَرُونَ
They fear their Lord above them and do what they are commanded.
Sūratu An-Nahl, Verse 50.
And it was reported that amongst the angels who are the hamlatu Al-‘arsh they are those who shed tears like river.
Yazīd Ar-raqqāshī said:
Verily, Allāh Ta’āla Has angels stationed around the throne, their eyes shed tears like rivers till the day of Qiyāmah, they shiver and shake as though being shaken by wind due to fear of Allāh Ta’āla, Allāh ‘Azzawajal will say to them: What make you fear while you are by Me? They replied by saying: O Lord, if people of the earth are really aware of your ‘Izzah and sublimity like the way we know, they would never enjoy taking food or drinking, in fact, they would have never slept for once, and they would have gone into desert moaning like cow.
And Muhammad Ibn Al-Munkidr said:
When Hell was created, the angels were so much depressed, and when Ādab was created, and shaītan did what he did of sin, Angel Gibrīl and Mīkāīl both wept, then Allāh Ta’āla asked them that: why are you weeping? They both said: O Lord, we are not sure of Your plan, Allāh Ta’āla says: then hold to this state.
