Al-Ghazali – Rahimahullāhu

Oh beloved Son, you should hasten to put into practice four major issues so that you may prosper:
1). You should relate with Allāh Ta’āla the way you want your servant to relate with you. Off course, you will want your servant to interact with you in a manner that pleases you. Hence, behave to Allāh in a manner that pleases Him, for you are the real slave of Allāh while your own slave is just for temporary.
2). Relate with others the way you want they should relate with you. Remember, the Faith of a servant is not complete until he loves for others what he loves for himself.
3). Whenever you learn about the Shāri’, then the knowledge should purify and censor your heart.
For instance, knowing that Death will catch up with you within a week, you will definitely busy yourself with the most important aspect of the Dīn and shun away from less vital ones such as knowledge of Jidal and kalām which will help you not at that spot.
Hence, beloved son, purify your heart from its vices, lowly characters, never attach your heart with the worldly life. Rather, hasten to increase the love of Allāh Ta’āla and His ibādat in your heart and stick yourself to good characters.
Don’t forget that, no day that passes except that there is high chance for death to snatch away in it, thus, be wise.
Allāhu A’alām.
Bārakallāhu fīkum.
Jazākumullahu Khayran.
5th Shawwal, 1441H.
