_Imaam Ibn Qudaamah Al-Maqdisi -rahimahullaah-_
Said:
*LEVELS OF PIETY.*
know verily that, piety has basically four degrees which are;
1. Shunning away from things that are Haram.
2. Safeguarding oneself from things that are doubtful. Although, those things are not Haram in themselves, but it is beloved to be far from them.
In this regard, our beloved Messenger sallallaahu alayhi wasallam said:
_”دع ما يريبك إلى ما لا يريبك”_
_”Leave that which is doubtful to the certain ones”._
Transmitted and recorded by Imaam At-Tirmidhi in his ‘Sunan#2518.
3. Leaving some things which are lawful in themselves lest they should lead one to fall into Haram things.
4. Leaving things that will not assist one towards Allah. This is the piety of the Sadiqqin(righteous ones). Thus, only those that Allah Has bestowed His blessings upon can attain this status.
Lastly, the more one increase his piety, the better for him in the side of Allah and he has high probability of attaining greater status on the Day of Resurrection.
Thus, one should hasten for the best degree of piety which is that of the righteous ones.
