Imām Ibn Qudāmah Al-Maqdisi-rahimahullāh-
Said:
As for the love of servant for Allāh Ta’āla, know that everybody proclaimed their love for Allāh, and one should never be lured by the whispers of shaitān.
Amongst the signs of ones love for Allāh, is for one to long to meet Allāh Ta’āla and this doesn’t contradict hatred for death, for a believer may dislike death, and the meeting of Allāh Ta’āla is after death.
Amongst the salaf are those who love death, and others dislike it either due to weakness in the love or because it is mixed with the love of Dunya, or due to their sins that they hope to repent from.
Amongst the signs of love of servant for Allāh, is for him to prefer what Allāh Ta’āla loves over his desires in all aspects. Therefore, he shuns away from desires, laziness, and he sticks to obedience of Allāh Ta’āla and moves closer to him with Nawāfil.
Also, whoever love Allāh wouldn’t disobey him, though sins doesn’t repudiate the origin of love, except that it weakens its perfection.
Furthermore, amongst the signs is for one to preoccupy oneself with the Zikr of Allāh Ta’āla with tongue and the heart. And to love the glorious Qur’an and the Rasūl -Salallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam.
Amongst the signs is for one to love seclusion with Allāh Ta’āla, His remembrance, recitation of the Holy Qur’ān and Tahajjud.
Allāhu A’alām.
Bārakallāhu fīkum.
Jazākumullahu Khayran.
