Imaam Ibn Qudaamah Al-Maqdisi rahimahullaah said:
Zakah is one of the Five Pillars of Islam and it is a religious obligation for all Muslims who meet the necessary criteria of wealth. Allah, the Almighty, mentioned it immediately after salah. Allah says:
(و أقيموا الصلاة وآتوا الزكاة) [ البقرة: ٤٣]
“And be steadfast in prayer; practise regular charity.”
Al-Baqarah Verse 43.
It is also an act of worship. Thus, it should be done for Allah sake alone and not to show-off.
There are Kinds, divisions of zakah, and the causes of its obligatory. However, these have been dealt with in detail in the books of Fiqh.
But we will only mention some of its ethics inshaAllah in our next post.
