_Imām Ibn Qudāmah Al-Maqdisi -rahimahullāh-_
Said:
It was said: the similitude of one who seeks to gather the luxuries of this worthless dunya, is like someone who is severely thirsty and he rushed to the river in order to quench his taste. However, the more he drinks, the more the thirst increases until he was killed by it.
In this regard, some salaf used to say to their students;
Let’s go and I should exemplify the nature of the dunya to you, he will now take them to a dunghill, and he will say: oh people, look at how its fruit, fat, honey and meat became degraded.
And lastly, in the Sahīhayn from the hadith of Abu Mūsaa radiyallāhu anhu who said: The Messenger of Allāh sallallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam said:
_”My example and the example of the message with which Allah has sent me is like that of a man who came to some people and said, “I have seen with my own eyes the enemy forces, and I am a naked warner (to you) so save yourself, save yourself! A group of them obeyed him and went out at night, slowly and stealthily and were safe, while the group him bellied him and thus the army took them in the morning and destroyed them.”_
