*QUESTION*
*ON DELAYING THE ‘ISHĀ PRAYER*
_”As salamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. We are asked to pray at the right time, so what is the ruling of delaying Isha prayer which some scholars say it is more rewarding to delay Isha prayer. Jazakallahu khairan”_
*ANSWER*
Wa Alaykum Salām Warahmatullāh Wabarakātuh
Alhamdulillāh
The right time to observe a Salāh is within the upper and lower time limits which have been set by Allāh ta’ālā
Subh is from Dawn to before the Sun rises
Dhuhr is from immediately after the shift of the Sun from it’s Zenith to when the Shadow is equal the height of it’s object
‘Asr is from when the Shadow of an object is taller than the object to just before sunset
Maghrib is at sunset
Ishā is from dusk to the middle of the night, in accordance to the more right position held by the ‘Ulamā
All of these are taken from the Ahādith mentioned in the book of _Mawāqīt_
Then, to observe Salāt Al-‘Ishā at the later time of the period of it is considered Sunnah
There is no contradiction in this
The Rasūl -salallāhu alayhi wasallam – said
( لولا أن أشق على أمتي لأمرتهم بتأخير العشاء )
_”If not that I may make things difficult for my Ummah thereby, I would have commanded them to delay the ‘Ishā.”_
The delaying of the ‘Ishā is to delay it to anytime within it’s time range
And Allāh knows best
Bārakallāhu Fīkum
Jazakumullāhu Khayran
May Allah grant us the understanding of His Religion (Islam)
سبحانك اللهم وبحمدك أشهد أن لا إله إلا أنت أستغفرك وأتوب إليك
As salam alaykum warahmatullah Wabarakātuh
