Imām Abūl ‘Abbās Ahmad bn ‘Abdul-Halīm bn Taymiyah – Rahimahullāhu
said:
11). وأقر بالميزان والحوض الذى
أرجو لأني منه ريا أنهل
I testify to the scale, and pond which
I pray to be amongst those who will drink from it.
SHAR’H.
The Shaykh Rahimahullāhu explained about the scale and the pond of the Rasūl Salallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam. It is one of the characteristics of the Ahlussunah for one to believe in the scale and the pond of the Rasūl Salallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam with ones heart and tongue. Though we have some misguided sects like the Mu’tazilah who deny the scale through metaphoric interpretation. Whereas, there are clear evidences in the kitāb and Sunnah which show that the scale shall be used to weigh the deeds of servants on the Day of Resurrection.
It has two sides, one sides for weighing good deeds and the other sides for weighing bad deeds. Whoever his good deeds outweighs his bad deeds is of the people of Jannah, and whoever his bad deeds outweighs his good deeds is of the people of Hell except those who will be interceeded for with the blessings of Allāh Ta’āla.
The pond of the Rasūl Salallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam is also established in the kitāb and Sunnah. Those who follow the path of the Rasūl Salallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam without any innovation shall drink from it. While those who innovated and follow their desires shall be driven away from it. The water of the pond is whiter than the colour of the milk.
The Shaykh prayed to be amongst those who will drink from the pond. Thus, Oh Allāh Ta’āla make us amongst those that will drink from it not of those that will be driven away from it. And this is easy for Allāh to do.
