Imām Ibn Qudāmah -rahimahullāh- said:
In the body, there are different types of veins and muscles based on their size, thickness, thinness, and all these are arranged based on wisdom, And all are from Allāh Taā’la. If one of those veins were to go against its normal function, then that will lead to death instantly.
For this, oh servants of Allāh, look at the blessings of Allāh Taā’la upon you which cannot be numbered, hasten to show gratitude to Allāh on them.
Unfortunately, the only blessing which is well known to us is that of the food, which is the least amongst them, and we don’t even recognize it except when we are in need.
Thus, what is the difference in this attitude with that of the animals? For they eat the way we eat and sleep as such, if we don’t know ourselves more than what a donkey knows of itself, then how can we render gratitude to Allāhu in its fullest meaning?!
That said. All these blessings that’s known to us and to others are all from the graces of Allāh Taā’la and they are even smaller compared to a drop of water in an ocean.
In this context, Allāh Taā’la said:
_وَإِن تَعُدُّوا نِعْمَتَ اللَّهِ لَا تُحْصُوهَا إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ لَظَلُومٌ كَفَّارٌ_
_…. and if you count Allah’s favors, you will not be able to number them; most surely man is very unjust, very ungrateful._
Sūratu Ibrāhīm, Verse 34.
Allāhu A’alam! Bārakallāhu fīkum!
