_Imām Ibn Qudāmah Al-Maqdisi -rahimahullāh-_
Said:
Know verily- may the Rahmah of Allāh be upon you- that, the Messenger of Allāh sallallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam Has described the believers with many attributes and good characters.
Of it, in Assahīhayn, in the hadith of Anas radiyallāhu anhu- who said- that the Messenger of Allāh sallallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam said:
_” ﻻَ ﻳُﺆْﻣِﻦُ ﺃَﺣَﺪُﻛُﻢْ ﺣَﺘَّﻰ ﻳُﺤِﺐَّ ﻷَﺧِﻴﻪِ – ﺃَﻭْ ﻗَﺎﻝَ ﻟِﺠَﺎﺭِﻩِ – ﻣَﺎ ﻳُﺤِﺐُّ ﻟِﻨَﻔْﺴِﻪِ._”
_”None amongst you believes (truly) until he loves for his brother” – or he said “for his neighbour” – “that which he loves for himself._”
Transmitted and recorded by Imām Muslim in his Sahih#45.
It is also reported from Abu Hurairah radiyallāhu anhu who said: The Messenger of Allāh sallallāhu àlayhi wasallam said:
_”ﻣَﻦْ ﻛَﺎﻥَ ﻳُﺆْﻣِﻦُ ﺑِﺎﻟﻠَّﻪِ ﻭَﺍﻟْﻴَﻮْﻡِ ﺍﻵﺧِﺮِ ﻓَﻠْﻴَﻘُﻞْ ﺧَﻴْﺮًﺍ ﺃَﻭْ ﻟِﻴَﺼْﻤُﺖْ ﻭَﻣَﻦْ ﻛَﺎﻥَ ﻳُﺆْﻣِﻦُ ﺑِﺎﻟﻠَّﻪِ ﻭَﺍﻟْﻴَﻮْﻡِ ﺍﻵﺧِﺮِ ﻓَﻠْﻴُﻜْﺮِﻡْ ﺟَﺎﺭَﻩُ ﻭَﻣَﻦْ ﻛَﺎﻥَ ﻳُﺆْﻣِﻦُ ﺑِﺎﻟﻠَّﻪِ ﻭَﺍﻟْﻴَﻮْﻡِ ﺍﻵﺧِﺮِ ﻓَﻠْﻴُﻜْﺮِﻡْ ﺿَﻴْﻔَﻪُ.”_
_”He who believes in Allah and the Last Day should either utter good words or better keep silence; and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day should treat his neighbour with kindness and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day should show hospitality to his guest”._
Transmitted and recorded by Imām in his Sahih#47.
Amongst good characters, is for one be patient, cheerful and tolerant with one another.
In this regard, Anas Ibn Mālik radiyallāhu anhu said:
_”َ ﻛُﻨْﺖُ ﺃَﻣْﺸِﻲ ﻣَﻊَ ﺭَﺳُﻮﻝِ ﺍﻟﻠَّﻪِ ﺻﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ ﻭَﻋَﻠَﻴْﻪِ ﺑُﺮْﺩٌ ﻧَﺠْﺮَﺍﻧِﻲٌّ ﻏَﻠِﻴﻆُ ﺍﻟْﺤَﺎﺷِﻴَﺔِ، ﻓَﺄَﺩْﺭَﻛَﻪُ ﺃَﻋْﺮَﺍﺑِﻲٌّ ﻓَﺠَﺒَﺬَ ﺑِﺮِﺩَﺍﺋِﻪِ ﺟَﺒْﺬَﺓً ﺷَﺪِﻳﺪَﺓً ـ ﻗَﺎﻝَ ﺃَﻧَﺲٌ ﻓَﻨَﻈَﺮْﺕُ ﺇِﻟَﻰ ﺻَﻔْﺤَﺔِ ﻋَﺎﺗِﻖِ ﺍﻟﻨَّﺒِﻲِّ ﺻﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ ﻭَﻗَﺪْ ﺃَﺛَّﺮَﺕْ ﺑِﻬَﺎ ﺣَﺎﺷِﻴَﺔُ ﺍﻟﺮِّﺩَﺍﺀِ ﻣِﻦْ ﺷِﺪَّﺓِ ﺟَﺒْﺬَﺗِﻪِ ـ ﺛُﻢَّ ﻗَﺎﻝَ ﻳَﺎ ﻣُﺤَﻤَّﺪُ ﻣُﺮْ ﻟِﻲ ﻣِﻦْ ﻣَﺎﻝِ ﺍﻟﻠَّﻪِ ﺍﻟَّﺬِﻱ ﻋِﻨْﺪَﻙَ . ﻓَﺎﻟْﺘَﻔَﺖَ ﺇِﻟَﻴْﻪِ ﻓَﻀَﺤِﻚَ، ﺛُﻢَّ ﺃَﻣَﺮَ ﻟَﻪُ ﺑِﻌَﻄَﺎﺀٍ._
_While I was walking along with the Messenger of Allāh sallallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam who was wearing a Najrāniy Burd (sheet) with a thick border, a bedouin overtook the Messenger sallallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam and pulled his Rida’ (sheet) forcibly. I looked at the side of the shoulder of the Prophet sallallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam and noticed that the edge of the Rida’ had left a mark on it because of the violence of his pull. The bedouin said, “O Muhammad! Order for me some of the properties of Allāh which you have.” The Prophet sallallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam turned towards him, and smiled and ordered that he should be given something._

In addition, the passed predecessors used to be patient and tolerant to those who harm them. In this context, it is reported that whenever children stoned uwais Al-qarni rahimahullāhu, he used to say to them that;
_Oh children, if you must stone me, then do that with small pebbles so that you will not make my legs to bleed thereby preventing me from observing salah._
Allāhu Akbar, this is a soul that has been smoothen with training, thus, the character becomes upright and purified from dirtiness and diseases and its fruits can be seen apparently.
Therefore, whosoever doesn’t find some signs in him similar to that of the pious predecessors, should try and strive hard to coach himself on it until he attains his goal.
