Imām Ibn Qudāmah Al-Maqdisi-rahimahullāh-
Said:
Abū Ad-Darda Radiyallāhu anhu was asked about his visit to graves. He said:
I visit people who remind me of my death. They never backbite me when I depart.
Maymūn bn Mahrān said: I went out with ‘Umar Ibn ‘Abdul’azīz to the graveyard, ‘Umar Ibn’Abdul’azīz wept and said: Oh Maymūn, these are the graves of my predecessors amongst Banī Umayyah, as if they never shared in the luxuries of the transitory life and as if they never dwelt therein.
It is recommended for one to pay visit to the graveyard.
The Rasūl Salallāhu alayhi wasallam said:
Visit the graves for they remind you of the Hereafter.

Uthmān Ibn Sawad At-tafāwī reported that:
when my mother was about to pass away, she looked up to the heaven and said: O my Support and Relief, in whom I trust in this world and After my death, Don’t forsake me nor leave me alone in my grave. She then died. He said: I used to visit her grave every Friday, and supplicate for her. One night, I saw her in a dream. I said to her: How are you oh mother! She said: Oh son, death is a severe calamity, but Alhamdulillahi, I am in a good place until the Day of Resurrection. I asked: Do you want anything? She said: Na’am, never stop your visit to us because we are happy with your visit.
