Imaam Ibn Qudaamah Al-Maqdisi -rahimahullaah-
Said:
It is reported from Ali radiyallaahu anhu who said_ “The said Messenger of Allah sallallaahu alayhi wasallam said:
” When you go to your beds, you should say:’
“SubhanaAllah for thirty_ three times, ‘Al Hamdulillahi for thirty_three times, and Allahu Akbar for thirty_ thirty four times. For this is better for you than a maid servant.”
Transmitted and recorded by Imaam Bukhaari in his ‘Sahih’#6318 and Imaam Muslim in his ‘Sahih#2727.
In addition, one is recommended to recite Ayatu Al-kursi from the beginning to the end before sleeping. By so doing, Allah, the Most High, will appoint a guard for one who will guard him and no any shaitan will come near him til morning. This is in accordance to an authentic Hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah radiyallaahu which was transmitted by Imaam Bukhaari #2311.
Lastly, it is reported from Anas radiyallaahu anhu who said: when the Messenger sallallaahu alayhi wasallam intends to go to his bed, He says;
“الْحَمْدُ للّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنَا وَسَقَانَا، وَكَفَانَا، وَآوَانَا، فَكَمْ مِمَّنْ لَا كَافِيَ لَهُ وَلَا مُؤْويَ”
“Alhamdu lillaahil-lathee ‘at’amanaa wa saqaanaa, wa kafaanaa, wa ‘aawaanaa, fakam mimman laa kaafiya lahu wa laa mu’wiya.”
Meaning:
” Praise is to Allah Who has provided us with food and with drink, sufficed us and gave us an abode for how many are there with no provision and no home.”
Transmitted and recorded by Imaam Muslim in his ‘Sahih#2715.
