Imaam Ibn Qudaamah Al-Maqdisi -rahimahullaah-
Said:
The Adaab of Du’a ( The ethics of supplication).
Know verily that, among the ethics of Du’a is for one to Choosing the best and precious times to make Du’a such as the Day of Arafah, the month of Ramadan, the Fridays, the last time of the night, the time between Adhan and Iqamah, during rain, during jihad, after the complete recitation of the whole Qur’an, during prostrations in prayers, after iftaar.
Also amongst the Adaab of Du’a, is for one to be:
1. facing the Al-qiblah.
2.lowering one’s voice during the supplication as a way of humbling oneself before Allah, the Most High.
3. starting the Du’a first with glorifying and praising Allah.
4.sending blessings upon the Messenger sallallaahu alayhi wasallam.
5.shunning away from sins and oppression.
6. conscious of Allah while making the Du’a.
Allaahu A’alam! Baarakallaahu feekum!
