Imām Ibn Qudāmah Al-Maqdisi-rahimahullāh-
Said:
The Death of the Rasūl Salallāhu alayhi wasallam.
Know verily that, in the life of the Rasūl Salallāhu alayhi wasallam there is an excellent exemplar for him who hopes in Allāh and the latter day and remembers Allāh much.
And it is known that there is no other creature who is closer and beloved to Allāh Ta’āla than the Rasūl. Despite that, Allāh Ta’āla never respite his soul when it got to its appointed term. And the Rasūl Salallāhu alayhi wasallam Has faced the agonies of Death.
Imām Al-Bukhārī#6510 narrated in His Sahīh from the Hadīth of ‘Āishah Radiyallāhu anha who said:
There was a leather or wood container full of water in front of the Rasūl Salallāhu alayhi wasallam ( at the time of His death). He would put his hand into the water and rub his face with it, saying, ” None Has the right to be worshipped but Allāh! No doubt, death has its agonies.
And in the Sahīhu Al-Bukhārī(4462) from the Hadīth of Anas Radiyallāhu anhu who said:
When the ailment of the Rasūl Salallāhu alayhi wasallam got aggravated, he became unconscious whereupon Fatīmah said, ‘Oh, how distressed my father is!’ He said, Your father will have no more distress after today.” When he expired, she said, O Father! Who has responded to the call of the Lord Who Has invited Him. O Father, Whose dwelling place is the Garden of Paradise (i.e, Al-Firdaus)! O Father! We convey this news( of your death) to Gabrīl.’ When he was buried, Fatīmah said, ‘O Anas! Do you feel pleased to throw earth over the Rasūl Salallāhu alayhi wasallam!
The Rasūl Salallāhu alayhi wasallam died while leaning on the chest of Āisha Radiyallāhu anha wearing woollen cloth.
