_Imaam Ibn Qudaamah Al-Maqdisi -rahimahullaah-_
Said:
*THE ENTRANCE OF IBLĪS INTO THE HEART OF MAN.*
know verily that- may the Rahmah of Allāh be upon you, the heart in its nature is built to accept guidance. But when it is covered with desires, whims and the whispering of shaitān, it shifts from its proper nature. Thus in this case, the heart always dangles between darkness of the devils and the light of Allāh, till when the heart open to one of them, it will then establish in the heart and the other is no way to be found. In this regard, Allāh says;
_من شر الوسواس الخناس_
From the whispering of the slinking(shaitān).
*SURATU ANNĀS, VERSE:4.*
This is the type of heart in which if it remembers Allah, it shrinks and doesn’t give ways for shaitān, but when it is headless, it spread out and expand thereby giving space for shaitān. Thus, one cannot chase away the shayatin from the heart except through the remembrance of Allāh Ta’āla, for there is no space for the shaitan with the remembrance of Allāh.
And one should also know that, the similitude of the heart is like a fortress, and the shaitān is an enemy who wants to enter into the fortress in order to control and overpower it, and it is not possible to safeguard the fortress except by guarding his doors, and whosoever doesn’t know the doors cannot safeguard it, thus, it is not possible to overcome shaitan except by knowing his plots and entrance, the entrance of the shaitan are the attributes of man, and they are many, but we will suffice ourselves by mentioning the major ones which most of the soldiers of shaitān always uses against man.
