_Imaam Ibn Qudaamah Al-Maqdisi -rahimahullaah-_
Said:
*THE ADAAB OF FRIENDSHIP AND BROTHERHOOD.*
Know verily that, cordial relationship is a fruit of good manners, and severance comes from bad character, for good behaviors imbibes love between people.
The virtues of good behavior cannot be over emphasized and many Ahaadith points to its virtues.
Amongst those Ahaadith are;
*1*. It is reported from Abu Addardah radiyallaahu anhu who said_ The Messenger of Allah sallallaahu alayhi wasallam said:
_”ما من شيئ أثقل في ميزان المؤمن يوم القيامة من خلق حسن”_
_”Nothing is heavier in the scale of the believer on the Day of Resurrection than his good behaviors “_
Transmitted and recorded by Imām At-Tirmidhi in his ‘Sunan(6/140). Shaykh Al Albāni declared it as Sahih in Assilsilatu Assahīhah#876.
*2*. In another hadith by Imām At-Tirmidhi and it is declared as Hasan by Shaykh Al Albāni in Assilsilatu Assahīhah#791, the Messenger of Allah sallallaahu alayhi wasallam said:
_”إن أحبكم إلي وأقربكم مني مجلسا يوم القيامة أحاسنكم أخلاقا، وإن أبغضكم إلي وأبعدكم مني مجلسا يوم القيامة مساوئكم أخلاقا”_
_”Verily, the most beloved and nearest of you to Me on the Day of Resurrection are those with the best characters, and verily, the most disliked and farthest of you to Me on the Day of Resurrection are those with the worst manners”_
*3*. The Messenger of Allah sallallaahu alayhi wasallam was asked about those things that can lead one to Al Jannah. He answered by saying;
_”تقوى الله وحسن الخلق”_
_” Fear of Allah and good manners.”_
Transmitted and recorded by Imām Ibn Mājah#4246.
*4*. As for loving for the sake of Allah which is amongst good manners, it is reported from Abu Hurayrah radiyallaahu anhu who said_ The Messenger of Allah sallallaahu alayhi wasallam said:
_”سبعة يظلهم الله في ظله يوم لا ظل إلا ظله” فذكر منهم: ” ورجلان تحابا في الله اجتمعا على ذلك وتفرقا”_
_”Allah will give shade to seven sets of people on the Day that there will be no shade except that of His”_ then he mentioned amongst them: _”And two persons who love each other only for the sake of Allah and they met and departed only in the cause of Allah”_
Transmitted and recorded by Imām Al Bukhāri in his ‘Sahih#660 and Imām Muslim in his ‘Sahih#1031.
*5*. Lastly, in another hadith which was transmitted by At-tabrāni in Al-Mùjamu Alkabīr#11538 and it was declared as Sahih by Shaykh Al Albāni in Assilsilatu Assahīhah#1728, the Messenger of Allāh sallallaahu alayhi wasallam said:
_”أوثق عرى الإيمان، أن تحب في الله وتبغض في الله “_
_”The most reliable hold of Al Īmān is to love for the sake of Allāh and hate for the sake of Allāh”._
