The Ethics of Travelling

_Imaam Ibn Qudaamah Al-Maqdisi -rahimahullaah-_
Said:

*THE ĀDĀB OF TRAVELLING.*

Know verily that, travelling has its own ethics that is well known and mentioned in the íbàda of Hajj. Amongst the ethics of travelling are;

*1.* Making istikhārah before embarking on the journey.

*2.* Returning the rights of the oppressed one.

*3.* Paying of debt if there is any.

*4.* Preparing and leaving behind something reasonable for the families and those that is wājib for one to feed them.

*5.* Saying farewell to the love ones.

*6.* One should have a companion for the journey and he should not make the journey alone.

*7.* Making a lot of azkār during the journey and after reaching destination.

*8.* Lastly, adequate preparation should be made for the journey.
