_Imaam Ibn Qudaamah Al-Maqdisi -rahimahullaah-_
Said:
*THE JOURNEY THAT IS PERMISSIBLE IN THE SHARIÁ.*
Know verily that, before one can embark on a journey, one should check whether the journey is permissible in the sharia or not.
Travelling for the purpose of tourism only without any tangible reason is forbidden and discouraged. In this regard Imām Ahmad rahimahullāhu was reported to have said:
_”ما السياحة من الإسلام في شيء ولا من فعل النبيين ولا الصالحين، ولأن السفر القلب، فلا ينبغي للمريد أن يسافر إلا في طلب علم أو مشاهدة شيخ يقتدي به في سيرته”_
_” There is no tourism in Islam nor in the deed of the prophets nor the pious ones, for such a journey affects the heart, thus, it is not permissible for a devout worshipper to make a journey except in order to seek for knowledge or in order to be with a Shaykh that can serve as mentor and guide for him.”_
