_Imām Ibn Qudāmah -rahimahullāh-_
Said:
From this lofty character of the beloved companions of the Messenger salallāhu alayhi wasallam and the pious salaf, it is really amazing to find those who deceive themselves by wearing highly expensive clothes, riding on a well dressed horses and the likes in order to achieve the honor of the dunya not through the religion.
However, if it appears in them some level of showoff, they will hasten to exonerate from such act by saying:
_Our goal with this act, is just to show the status of knowledge and its importance and to practise it so that others can emulate us in that regard, and by so doing, they will be guided towards the Deen._
But if they are really sincere that their main goal is to guide others towards good, then they should be happy and pleased when those people they intend to guide are guided by others not by them.
Likewise, in the case of those who always interact with the kings, showing them love, praising them and humiliating themselves to them claiming that:
_Our intention by this, is to intercede for the Muslims in the side of the kings, or to safeguard them from any harm._
And Allāh knows best that if some of his contemporaries were to attain some level of acceptance in the side of the kings, it will have been difficult and painful for him to bear it.
And the delusion of some of them has gotten to an extent that they take from Harām source claiming that:
_This wealth is not possessed by any one, rather, it is for the Maslaha of the Muslims in general, and we are amongst the Imāms of the Muslims._
Hence, they are deceived with such wrong point of view. And may be they are amongst the deceitful ones by their statement that:
_The wealth belongs to no one, and the most vital issue is the admixture of the wealth._
However, despite that, it doesn’t prevent the wealth from being Harām and it may even be that, they are aware vividly of the condition of the person they took the wealth from.
Allāhu A’alam! Bārakallāhu fīkum!
