_Imām Ibn Qudāmah -rahimahullāh-_
Said:
The similitude of going deep in the study of Arabic grammar is as though a person who spent his whole life only in beautifying his makhāriju Al-hurūf in the Qur’ān, and he held firm to it without moving further to know the meaning of those words of the glorious Qur’ān, then, this act of his, is a great deception in itself.
Reason being that, the Arabic alphabets are only apparatus and tools used to attain the meaning of a certain text.
Also, we can say that, the case of such a person is as though a person who takes drugs in order to cure his bile duct disease, however he spent his whole life in beautifying the cup which he uses for taking the drugs instead of giving his full attention to the drugs. Verily, such a person is completely lured and deceived.
Therefore, the successful and intelligent one is the one who take from these, his vital information and needs, hasten for action without any delay, and struggle hard in the action and in purifying it from impurities, thus, this is the main goal.
And for others, their deception is greater. In the sense that, they always create some tricks in order to escape from their major responsibilities and they thought by so doing, that will benefit them in the sight of Allāh and they shall be excused. Rather, in real sense, that is a delusion of the highest order.
For, if a man was willing to trick his wife in order to persuade her to overlook her basic needs that ought to be provided by him, then, in the sight of Allāh, he shall never be exonerated from that responsibilities.
Likewise, for a man to give his zakah at the end of the year to his wife so that he can be relieved from giving out zakah, and the likes of tricks which are used by people in this era’s of ours in order to escape from their responsibilities.
Allāhu A’alam! Bārakallāhu fīkum!
