_Imaam Ibn Qudaamah Al-Maqdisi -rahimahullaah-_
Said:
*THE RIGHTS OF FAMILIES*
As for the rights of kinships, it is reported in an authentic Hadith by Aisha Radiyallāhu anhu who said_ The Messenger of Allāh sallallāhu àlayhi wasallam said:
_”الرحم معلقة بالعرش، تقول: من وصلني وصله الله ، ومن قطعني قطعه”_
_”The tie of kinship is attached to the Throne, and says: Whosoever unites me Allāh would unite him and whosoever severed me Allāh would sever him.”_
Transmitted and recorded by Imām Muslim in his ‘Sahih#2555.
In another Hadith, transmitted and recorded by Imām Al Bukhārī rahimahullāhu in his Sahih#5991 which is reported by Àbdullāh Ibn Àmru radiyallāhu anhu who said_The Messenger of Allāh sallallāhu àlayhi wasallam said:
_”ليس الواصل بالمكافئ، ولكن الواصل الذي إذا قطعت رحمه وصلها”_
_”Al-Wasil is not the one who recompenses the good done to him by his relatives, but Al-Wasil is the one when his relatives severed the bond of kinship with him, keeps good relations with them.”_
It is also reported by Abu Hurairah radiyallāhu anhu who said: A man said to the Messenger of Allāh sallallāhu àlayhi wasallam; Oh Messenger of Allāh sallallāhu alayhi wasallam, I have relatives, I do keep good relations with them but they sever this relation, I do behave good to them but they always behave bad to me, I am soft to them but they are harsh to me, The Messenger of Allāh sallallāhu àlayhi wasallam then said:
_”If the affair is the way you mentioned, is like you have thrown hot ashes(upon their faces), and you will always have the assistance of Allāh upon them as long as you keep to this your act”_
Transmitted and recorded by Imām Muslim in his ‘Sahih’2558.
Lastly, it is highly encouraged and recommended that parents should behave good to their child and they should name him with a good name. When the child is Seven years old, they should command him to pray. Oh reaching maturity, he should be married.
