Imaam Ibn Qudaamah Al-Maqdisi rahimahullaah said:
The times when it is forbidden to offer salat.
Basically, the Prohibited times for prayers are;
♦ When the sun begins to rise until
approximately some minutes after sunrise like 10 to 15minutes.
♦ When the sun is at its peak like 12noon depending on the area.
♦ When the colour of the sun turns pale until it sets completely.
Know verily that, the reasons behind forbidden one from praying at those times are due to some factors which are;
• Avoiding imitating those that worships the sun.
• As a Warning against making sujud between the two horns of the shaitan. This is because the sun rises between the horns of the shaitan.
It is reported from َIbn ‘Umar radiyallaahu anhuma who said- The Messenger of Allah salallaahu alayhi wasallam said:
“Do not intend to observe prayer at the time of the rising of the sun nor at its setting, for it rises between the horns of Satan.”
Transmitted and recorded by Imaam Muslim in his ‘Sahih‘#828.
• A traveller towards the Hereafter needs to persist with ibadaat. However, this persistency cannot be attained when the ibadah looks bored due to lack of changing from one ibadah to the other.
Thus, when prayers are forbidden in certain times, it gives one opportunity to hasten for other ibadaat like reciting the Qur’an, making azkar and tasbih and this makes the ibadaat more easier to the servant of Allah without becoming wearied.
