Said:
4). Furniture of the Home.
The Zāhīd is highly recommended to stick himself to that which are of necessity amongst furniture and he should utilize all gadgets in their possible ways.
And whoever exceeds the limit of what is needed of furniture, has gone out the boundary of Zuhd.
A servant is recommended to copy the way of life of the Rasūl salallāhu’alayhi wasallam.
In Sahīh Muslim, from the Hadīth of ‘Umar Ibn Al-khattāb Radiyallāhu anhu who said:
I visited the Rasūl salallāhu’alayhi wasallam and he was lying on a mat. I sat down and he Drew up his lower garment over him and he had nothing else over him, and that the mat had left its marks on his side’s. I looked with my eyes in the storeroom of Allah’s Messenger. I found only a handful of barley equal to one Sa’….”
And ‘Aliyy Radiyallāhu anhu said:
I married Fātimah without any mattress except the skin of a mail sheep that we used for sleeping and do provide fodder on it for the camel within the day. I have no servant apart from her.
A man visited Abī Dhar Radiyallāhu anhu and he looked around the room and said:
Oh Abā Dhar, I see nothing of accessories nor furniture’s in your room. Abi Dhar replied by saying: Verily, we have another house where we do send our best possession. The man said: However, you still need some materials as long as you are still in Dunya. Abī Dhar said: But the owner of the house can send us out from it at any time.
Allāhu A’alam
Bārakāllāhu fīkum.
