Imām Abū Hamīd
Al-Ghazali – Rahimahullāhu
said:
Treading the Path of Guidance.
Oh beloved Son, you are highly recommended to arrange your words and actions In accordance to the text of the shar’i, for knowledge and action that are not based on sound text lead to nothing but misguidance.
Thus, never be lured by the deception and extremism of those who claimed to be suffis.
Also know that, treading the path of the Dīn needs a lot of determinations and struggling against the wills of the soul.
In addition, a loudmouthed person with his heart full of heedlessness and desires is the wretched one.
And if you don’t purify your heart of its desires through constant struggling, then your heart can never be burnished with the light of guidance.
Meanwhile, some of those matters which you asked for their explanation cannot be fully expounded through writing or statements.
On reaching the level, you will grasp their meanings since they can only be thoroughly understood through taste and experience. And it’s said that anything that’s its essence can only be grasped through taste, cannot be explained by words.
Like the sweetness of a sugar or bitterness of a vinegar can never be known except through taste.
