Imām Ibn Qudāmah -rahimahullāh- said:
Wonders of Food and Treatment.
Know verily that, food are of different varieties, and Allāh Taā’la Has placed numerous marvels regarding their varieties which are uncountable.
Thus, it is basically subdivided into nutrients, treatments, fruits and their likes:
As for the nutrients, for instance, if one purchase wheats, and chose to consume it all, surely a time may come which one may still be in need of the wheat. In that case, one is required to search for a means which will increase the quantity of the wheat so that it can meet up one’s demands and this means is termed as _Agriculture_,.
Therefore, it is for one to plant it in a fertile land so that it gets access to water and mixes up with the soil.
However, the plant still needs adequate air for its germination.
Hence, it is recommended to be planted where the plant can have access to air. But air doesn’t move in itself without wind. The air needs wind to move it and storm it within the soil, so that it can penetrate it.
Despite all these, the plant also needs the heat of the spring and summer, for if it is in an extremely cold place it will never germinate.
Then take a look at the water needed for cultivation how Did Allāh Taā’la create it? He Has commanded the earth to gush out with springs and He Has caused rivers to flow there forth. But since some part of the earth are not parallel, and water cannot get to it due its unevenness, Allāh then sent clouds which are controlled by the wind to different regions. These heavy clouds are sent to lands several times in terms of need by the land.
Also, take a look the way Allāh created mountains meant for preserving rains, springs gradually gush out from it, Had it sprung out at once the whole earth would have drowned and the whole plants would have been destroyed.
Allāhu A’alam! Bārakallāhu fīkum!
