#1001: Are Sins Committed On The Night Of Laylatu Al-Qadr Regarded As Sins Committed For 1,000 Months?
“Sallam Alaykum Ya Shiek, hope the Shiek is faring well, may ALLAH increase you in more beneficial knowledge, I mean to ask this,As we are getting closer to witnessing the last days of Ramadan in which in it is the Great Night of Laylatul Qadr,it is said that if a muslim that does not associate Partners to ALLAH is blessed to be opportuned to grace the night with Ibadaats it will be as if it is equivalent to(83yrs plus some Months),pls what is the case of a muslim that Commits sin or crime in the same Night of power, will it be said of him or recorded that he was committing the sin for(83yrs and 4months),please shed more light on this, jazakumullahu khyran”
ANSWER:
Wa Alaykum Salam Warahmatullah Wabarakaatuh.
As for sins, their gravity vary from period to period and from place to place, just as the Hasanaat (good deeds). But it is not known that sins are multiplied upon its doer.
Allah Taala had said:
وَمَنْ جَاءَ بِالسَّيِّئَةِ فَلا يُجْزَى إِلَّا مِثْلَهَا وَهُمْ لا يُظْلَمُونَ
“And whosoever comes with sins, then it shall not be recorded for him other than it. And they are not to be oppressed.”
Thus, while the severity of this sin is greater and more severe than if it was done on other than LAYLATU AL-QADR, there is no evidence to say the sins will be multiplied upon him for doing it on the Night of Qadar.
And Allah knows best.
Barakallahu fikum
