The Messenger of Allaah – salallaahu alayhi wasallaam said:
“The universal rights of every Muslim on every Muslim are six:
If you meet him salute him with the Salaam;
If he invites you (for a feast or anything that concerns him) , you should respond to his invitation;
If he seeks for your sincere advice (or corrections), you should give him a sincere one;
If he sneezes and praises Allah (saying ‘Alhamdulillaah’) then respond to him with the ‘Tashmit’ (by saying ‘yarhamukallaah’);
If he falls ill, then pay him a visit to comfort him;
If he passes away, then follow (his corpse to the grave)”

Transmitted and Recorded by Imaam Muslim bn Al-Hajjaaj in his ‘Sahih’ #2162 COMMENTARY:
This hadith shows the everlasting bind that the Muslim Community must observe. Ulamaa have mentioned that these 6 rights must never be denied to a Muslim by another Muslim as long as he remains withinthe confines of Islam. We must remember this even when we want to avoid one another, we must not cut off these ties between ourselves.
And these rights must not be denied to one another.
Look at yourself: have you been giving these rights to your brothers? May Allaah assist us, aameen!
