Imaam Ibn Hajar Al-‘Asqalaani rahimahullaah said:
It is reported from Abi Zarr radiyallaahu anhu who said The Messenger of Allah – salallaahu alayhi wasallam said:
“When you make some soup, add plenty of water, and give some to your neighbor.”
Transmitted and recorded by Imaam Muslim in his “Sahih”#2625
COMMENTARY
The hadith shows the importance of the following:
1. It indicates the right of one neighbor to the other.
2. It shows that it is abhorrent and disliked to be stingy to one’s neighbor
3. It encourages cordial relationship and affection between neighbors.
4. It indicates that one should always give a helping hand to his neighbor in every situation especially in a dire situation.
