Imaam Ibn Hajar Al-‘Asqalaani – rahimahullaah – said:
It is reported from Abu Hurairah radiyallaahu anhu- who said – The Messenger of Allah -salallaahu alayhi wasallam said:
“Sadaqah does not decrease property, Allah increases the honor of him who forgives others and no one will humble himself for Allah’s sake except that Allah raises his position.”
Transmitted and recorded by Imaam Muslim in his “Sahih”#2588.
COMMENTARY
The hadith shows the importance of the following:
♦ It indicates that giving out Sadaqah (charity) does not decrease wealth. Rather, Allah will bless his wealth and increase his reward manifold.
♦ It shows that whosoever forgives others, Allah will increase his honor in this dunya and Hereafter.
♦ It illustrates that whoever humbles himself for Allah’s sake, Allah will increase his status in this dunya and Hereafter.
